Privacy Policy

Let’s be real—most Privacy Policy are written by lawyers, for lawyers. You click “agree” and hope for the best. We’re doing things differently.

At What’s In Trending, we believe transparency is the foundation of trust. As a news publication, we handle information responsibly—and that includes yours. This Privacy Policy isn’t just a legal requirement for Google AdSense; it’s our promise to be clear about what we collect, why we collect it, and how you’re in control.

I’ve spent years optimizing sites for compliance, and I can tell you that a robust, transparent privacy policy isn’t just about avoiding rejection—it’s about building a relationship with your readers.

The short version: We collect some data to make your experience better and to keep our lights on through advertising. We never sell your personal information. You have control over what you share. Keep reading for the important details.

Who We Are & Our Contact Information

Before we dive in, you should know who’s behind this policy.

If you have any privacy-specific concerns, that’s the best email to use. I take data protection seriously and will respond promptly.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Here’s the core of it. We collect data for a few specific, legitimate purposes. The table below breaks it down clearly.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the data we collect, how we collect it, and the legal basis for doing so:

Data Type How We Collect It Why We Collect It (Legal Basis)

Media Information If you upload images We advise avoiding uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS)
Contact Form Data (name, email, message) When you use our contact form To respond to your inquiries (Consent)
Cookies Small text files placed on your device To remember your preferences, understand site usage, and for advertising (Consent/Legitimate Interest)
Analytics Data (anonymized IP, browser type, pages visited) Through Google Analytics To understand how users interact with our site and improve it (Legitimate Interest)
Newsletter Email When you explicitly sign up To send you the content you requested (Consent)

A Deeper Look at Comments and Media

We gather your IP address, browser user agent string, and the information you enter in the FormForm when you post a comment. This information is not meant to violate your privacy; rather, it aids in the detection and prevention of spam. To determine if you have a profile image, the Gravatar service may receive an anonymized string (sometimes called a hash) created from your email address. Once you have a profile photo, it will be displayed beside your comment publicly.

Please do not include photos with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) when uploading photographs to the website. Any location information from photos submitted to the website could be downloaded and extracted by other users.

The Truth About Cookies

Cookies sound technical, but they’re just small tools that make the web work better. We use them for a few key reasons:

  • Functionality: To remember your commenter details so you don’t have to type them in again.
  • Analytics: To understand which pages are popular and how people navigate our site.
  • Advertising: This is the big one for AdSense.

Speaking of advertising, we need to be specific. We use Google AdSense to serve ads on our site. Google uses cookies to make those ads relevant to you. Here’s how it works:

  1. When you visit our site, Google sets a cookie in your browser (if you consent).
  2. As you browse the web, this cookie helps build a profile of your interests (without personally identifying you, like your name or email).
  3. When an ad space loads on our page, Google uses that interest profile to show you an ad that’s more likely to be useful than a random one.

By going to Google’s advertisements Settings, you may see how Google utilizes data for advertising and how to opt out of tailored advertisements.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Sometimes, our articles include embedded content (like YouTube videos, Tweets, or Instagram posts). Be aware that this behaves exactly as if you visited the other website.

These third-party websites can use cookies to gather personal information about you, provide third-party tracking, and track your activities with the embedded content. Since we have no control over these third-party websites, I highly recommend looking over their privacy policies.

Who We Share Your Data With

This is where we get to the heart of AdSense compliance. Transparency is non-negotiable.

We do not and will never sell your personal data.

However, to operate this site, we do share data with a few trusted third-party partners under strict terms:

  • Google LLC: We share analytics data with Google Analytics to understand our traffic and advertising data with Google AdSense to display ads. Their Privacy Policy governs Google’s use of data.
  • Complianz: Complianz’s Privacy Suite for WordPress helps us keep track of your cookie consent. To use this feature, your IP address is stored in our database without your name. This service doesn’t give the service provider any personal information that can be used to identify you. Please read the Complianz Privacy Statement for more details.
  • Our Hosting Provider: Our web hosting company has access to server logs that contain IP addresses, but they are contractually forbidden from using this data for any purpose other than providing us with hosting services.

How Long Do We Retain Your Data

We don’t keep your information forever. We have clear schedules for keeping things:

Comments and other data are stored indefinitely. This allows us to automatically seek out and accept any follow-up comments rather than putting them in a moderation queue.

Contact Form Entries: These are maintained for one year for customer service purposes only; we do not utilize the information supplied through them for marketing purposes.

Google Analytics stores user and event data, which is automatically erased after 26 months.

Cookie Consent: Records of your permission are kept for three years to demonstrate compliance with data protection regulations.

Your Data Rights: You’re in Control

If you have an account on this site or have written comments, you can request an exported file containing the personal information we possess on you. You can also request that we delete any personal information we have on you. This excludes any data we are required to store for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Specifically, you have the right to:

  • Access your data.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request the Erasure of your data.
  • Restrict the Processing of your data.
  • Object to the Processing of your data.
  • Data Portability.

You have to contact us to exercise any of these rights. at nandkishorrandive1580@gmail.com. We have one month to respond to your request.

Where We Send Your Data

Our operations have a global footprint, which means your data may be transferred outside your country of residence.

  • Visitor comments can be scanned using an automated spam detection service, which might be based outside the European Union.
  • Google Analytics and AdSense process data on servers around the world, including in the United States.

We make sure that any such transfers are in line with the laws of data protection. For transfers to the U.S., we rely on providers that are part of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or that use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

How We Protect Your Data

We don’t think about security after the fact. We have put in place both technological and organizational measures to protect your data:

All of the pages on our website are protected by SSL/HTTPS encryption. This makes sure that the information sent between your browser and our server stays private.

We regularly update the core of WordPress, its themes, and its plugins to fix security holes that have been found.

Secure Hosting: We use a trustworthy hosting service that has strong server security.

We only collect the data we need for the reasons we say we need it, following the rules of data minimization.

Our Data Breach Procedures

While we work hard to prevent them, we have a plan in place just in case. If a data breach occurs, we will:

Please find out how bad the attack is and where it came from.

Do something now to stop it.

Assess the risk to people whose data would be at risk.

If there is a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will quickly tell the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours and, unless it is necessary to do so, the appropriate person directly and without any unnecessary delay.

A Note on Automated Decision-Making and Profiling

We do not take any fully automated decision based on your data that has any legal or otherwise immense consequences for you. The profiling done by our advertising partners (like Google AdSense) is used only to show you more relevant ads, not to deny you services or opportunities.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

The digital landscape is always changing, and so might this policy. I can revise this privacy policy occasionally to correspond to changes in the law or operations. If we make significant changes, we’ll do more than update the date here—we’ll place a prominent notice on our website and, for newsletter subscribers, send an email.

  • This policy was last updated on: [30/09/2025.]

Your Consent

You agree to our Privacy Policy when you use our website.

Thanks for reading this. A group that knows more about things is stronger, and we want to be clear about how we handle your trust.

Sincerely,

Nandkishor Randive
